12 days and counting; the Style Experience FIS Snowboard World Cup Big Air returns to Commonwealth Stadium on Saturday December 9th. Don’t miss out on the chance to watch in awe from the stands or party on the field at the best night out in Edmonton. Back in 2023 bigger and better featuring;
- The greatest snowboarders on earth ALL in Edmonton for one day only.
- The biggest urban Snowboard jump in the world.
- 15 stories high, longer than a football field and containing more scaffolding than any other build in Canadian history.
- Headline music performances from Grandson, Calling All Captains and Skiitour
- The stands of the stadium transformed into a mountain with free Tube Rides at the Kal Tire tubing hill brought to you by Edmonton Ski Club.
- A festival style Market Village to explore featuring entertainment, huge giveaways and activities for the entire family.
- A debut Rail Jam Competition in a purpose built jib park integrated into the northern stands – Toyota Presents ‘The Grind – Steel in the stands” brought to you by Sunshine Village & Arena Snowparks.
- Kids under 12 attend FREE.
This year, the Style Experience is so much more than just a FIS World Cup Big Air; It’s a unique festival bolder than anything this city has ever seen. The ultimate celebration of all things Snowboard culture and style, a showcase like no other featuring stacked music headlined by Grandson, fresh off the release of his new studio album, feel-good DJ duo Skiitour, Red Bull certified DJ’s and Edmontons’ very own Calling All Captains.
With the stage directly beside the jump and riders coming to a stop on what is essentially the dance floor – It’s Edmonton’s biggest party of the year.
This year the event returns with a range of entertainment offerings for everyone of all ages and families including a snow tubing park, a public ski jump, Helicopter stadium flyovers and Toyota Presents ‘The Grind – Steel in the Stands” brought to you by Sunshine Village & Arena Snowparks. The field will be transformed into a festival style Market Village where you can check out the latest sporting goods, lifestyle activations, action sports demos, competitions, games and much much more.
A world leading design and construction team have been busy transforming the Commonwealth Stadium since the day after the Heritage Classic on October 30th. As the only Big Air ever held in a football stadium and the biggest venue ever to host an event of this nature, the build process is truly an engineering marvel. In fact, if the ramp wasn’t integrated right up to the very top of the south east stand, it actually wouldn’t even fit in the stadium, or any stadium in fact. The sheer enormity is hard to grasp – 100,000 pieces of scaffolding, 30,000 square meters of plywood and with the first truckload of snow set to arrive today it’s getting close to game time.
The event is the 3rd FIS World Cup Snowboard Big Air of the season and the first of 7 World Cups set to go down throughout Canada this winter. Once again we proudly stand alone as the only nation to host the full spectrum of snowboarding World Cup disciplines. The Style Experience stands once again to push the boundaries of the sport, delighting fans and thrilling the crowd with the ultimate spectacle of Snowboarding.
Can our very own Jasmine Baird defend her 2022 crown? Will Nicholas Laframboise take the win in his Oilers Jersey? Can the Canadian legend, known as the best snowboarder on earth, Mark McMorris grab the title? Well for this first time ever, you’ll be able to put some action on these areas, by being able to bet on the event through Play Alberta, the first time ever that sports betting on snowboarding will be an option. Oh, and there’s a huge 50-50 running both online and in-person with a huge jackpot!
The world’s best snowboarders from over 40 nations are set to descend on Edmonton in just under two weeks, and you should too. Come cheer on Team Canada on home turf!
