First Group of Athletes Named to Canada’s 2023 WBSC Americas U18 Men’s Pan American Championship Team

Ottawa, Ont. –Softball Canada is pleased to announce that six athletes and one additional coach have been named to the Canadian U18 Men’s National Team that will compete in the 2023 WBSC Americas Pan American Championship from September 3-9 in Sincelejo, Colombia.
 
The athletes have been selected by head coach Mark Quinn (Mermaid, P.E.I.) and assistant coach Jean-Yves Doucet (St-Leonard-d’Aston, Que.) following a selection process that included regional identification camps held in 2022 and scouting at major tournaments over the last two years. The remaining ten (10) athletes will be determined at the conclusion of the U20 Men’s Canadian Championship taking place in Napanee, Ont. this week.
 
Quinn and Doucet will be joined on their staff by Garth Perrin (Stewiacke, N.S.) who will assume bench coach duties for the event.

Note: The eligibility birth years for this event is 2004 or later due to the postponement of the U18 Men’s World Cup that was originally supposed to take place in 2022.

The Pan American Championship will feature a total of six teams – Argentina, Canada, Colombia, Peru, the United States and Venezuela – with the top four earning a spot at the 2023 WBSC U18 Men’s Softball World Cup November 11-19 in Hermosillo, Mexico.
