American Jennifer Brady, finalist at the 2021 Australian Open, and Canada’s Rebecca Marino highlight the women’s player field

Montreal, July 6, 2023 — On Thursday, Tennis Canada announced the list of players who will take part in the 2023 Granby National Bank Championships, scheduled to be held from July 16 to 23. Played out of the Tennis St-Luc in Granby, Quebec, the tournament hosts a combined men’s and women’s competition, featuring a $100,000 ITF Women’s Circuit event and an ATP Challenger 100 tournament.

Leading the men’s field is World No. 90 Thanasi Kokkinakis of Australia. The 27-year-old is having a strong start to his 2023 campaign, tying a career-best result at the Australian Open (second round) and at Roland-Garros (third round). Kokkinakis, the top-seeded player, will face fierce opponents in Granby, with Ecuador’s Emilio Gomez (No. 127), and Canadians Vasek Pospisil (No. 157) and Alexis Galarneau (No. 215) each vying for their shot at the title.

On the women’s side, American Jennifer Brady, winner of the 2016 edition of the event in Granby, is atop the player list with her protected ranking of 14th in the world. Brady, who has an Australian Open final and US Open semi-final on her resume, hasn’t played since retiring from her second-round match at the Western & Southern Open in 2021. She’s joined in the main draw by three Canadians, Rebecca Marino (No. 83), Katherine Sebov (No. 157), and Stacey Fung (No. 230).
