June 29, 2023 (Ottawa) – Diving Plongeon Canada (DPC) is pleased to announce that world renowned coach Julian Bellan of Plymouth, England will soon be joining the DPC staff team as Talent Development Specialist.
Julian’s main focus will be to work with western based diving programs to help identify and foster the development of exceptionally talented athletes. He will also assist high potential club programs in optimizing their structure and training programs.
Bellan will work in collaboration with DPC’s Junior High Performance Director, Andrée Pouliot-Deschamps in building and delivering the association’s elite NextGen development program.
“Julian will be an incredible asset for Diving Plongeon Canada.says Mitch Geller, Chief Technical Officer of DPC. “He is highly respected world-wide for his work in developing some of Great Britain’s most prominent divers and we are very fortunate that he will now be focussing his energy and expertise for the benefit of Canadian diving.”
Julian has a vast amount of experience in developing young talent. He spearheaded the talent development program for British Diving that produced the second ranked team at the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games. He has been a coach since 1994 and is a former international judge.
“I’m really looking forward to joining the DPC team to help discover and develop promising athletes in the West,” says Julian Bellan. “It will be a pleasure to use my experience to help clubs and athletes reach their full potential. I’m very grateful to Diving Plongeon Canada for allowing me to take on this new challenge. I look forward to working with everyone across the country on this project.”
