Double Bronze for Canada at U23 Beach Event

PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, June 4, 2023 – Canada won both the women’s and men’s bronze medals this past weekend at the U23 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour Tournament, at Los Corales beach in Punta Cana.

On the men’s side: The Cuban pair of Jorge Alayo and Noslen Díaz defeated Costa Rica’s Julián Araya and Jhostin Varela in the gold medal match, 2-0 (21-15, 21-12) in 34 minutes.

The Canadian duo of Cameron Chadwick (Ontario) and Tynan Gannett (Nova Scotia) easily won the bronze medal after defeating Nicaraguans Jefferson Cascante and Josue Meneses 2-0 (21-16, 21-15).

The Puerto Rican team of Allanis Nava and María González took the top spot on the women’s side winning the gold-medal match over Dominicans Jeneiry Rosario and Yari Cleto 2-0 (21-9, 21-10).

The Canadian duo of Sophia Hladyniuk and Emma Braticevic (both Ontario) defeated Dominicans Ruth Martínez and Crismil Paniagua 2-0 (21-14, 21-15) to win the bronze medal.

The U23 Beach event is a new category for NORCECA on the beach circuit.
