Olympians to gather in Montreal for unveiling of Canadian short track team’s all-new locker room

MONTREAL, QUEBEC – Canada’s short track speed skating program will officially unveil their all-new national team locker room at the Maurice Richard Arena in Montreal during a ceremony on Wednesday, May 17.
 
After months of hard work from high performance staff members – in collaboration with the City of Montreal, JAM Direct and Café Barista – this legacy project, which pays homage to our rich history of our international success, will look to inspire Canadian speed skaters for years to come.
 
Over twenty Olympians have confirmed their attendance for the ceremony, including Beijing 2022 participants Kim Boutin, Steven Dubois, Courtney Sarault and Pascal Dion, as well as distinguished alumni such as Nathalie Lambert, Marc Gagnon, François-Louis Tremblay, Jonathan Guilmette, Tania Vicent, Angela Cutrone, Valerie Cavar, Olivier Jean, Laurent Daignault, Michel Daignault, François Hamelin, and Charles Hamelin.
 
Media are invited to attend this unique event on Wednesday, May 17. Olympians will be available for interviews following the ceremony at 10:00am ET. Please confirm your attendance as soon as possible with Alain Brouillette.

Schedule

  • 9:00am – 9:45am: Welcome Breakfast and Visit of New Locker Room
  • 9:45am – 10:00am: Official Unveiling Ceremony
  • 10:00am – 10:15am: Signing of the “Wall of Olympians”
  • 10:15am – 11:00am: Alumni Skate with National Program Athletes
