RCA Conference: Virtual Sessions

With the 2023 RCA National Conference just over one week away, RCA is pleased to announce that two virtual sessions will kick off the Conference program on Tuesday, January 24.

The virtual sessions will be the first offerings of the ‘Open the Doors Wider’ theme for this year’s Conference. Each session will be aimed at expanding our thinking as leaders by seizing opportunities with energy and engagement. The virtual sessions will be brought to the rowing community FREE of charge.

Dr. Katie Misener will kick things off with a session called, ‘Giving Back and Moving Forward: Developing Social Responsibility in Local Rowing Clubs’. In this session, Dr. Misener will provide an overview of her research which demonstrates how community sport clubs are broadening the scope of their efforts to address wider social issues in addition to providing sport services to club members.

A quintet of experienced coaches, athletes and sport administrators will deliver the second virtual session titled ‘Essential Principles of Team Selection’. Chuck McDiarmid, Adam Klevinas, Volker Nolte, Jeremy Ivey and Kasia Gruchalla-Wesierski will offer an overview of the protocol and policies for RCA National Team selection and will discuss the key principles of how to deliver a fair selection process at your club.
