|

ReImagine RREC – Renew, Retool, Engage and Contribute – is a national COVID-19 recovery initiative for parks, recreation and community sport leaders delivered by the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association (CPRA). It is intended to help leaders working in parks, recreation and community sport to improve planning, operations and delivery of programs and services in a pandemic and post-pandemic environment, as well as to contribute to community recovery more broadly. CPRA is hosting five interactive workshops for leaders in the parks, recreation and community sport sectors.

Topics:

  1. Adaptive Planning and Leadership in light of the ongoing challenges of COVID-19 and continually changing circumstances across the country.
  2. Supportive Outdoor Spaces and Places that will feature a panel to discuss the value of welcoming neighbourhoods, outdoor play and unstructured recreation and the impact of climate on accessing outdoor spaces.

Presenters:

  • John Frittenburg, President, The JF Group, Inc. and Project Lead, ReImagine RREC
  • Dr. Troy Glover, Professor and Chair, Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies; Director, Healthy Communities Research Network, University of Waterloo
  • Heather Cowie, Member of Leadership Group of Outdoor Play Canada; GM, Community and Protective Services at City of Fort Saskatchewan
  • Dawn Carr, Director, Strategic Conservation, Nature Conservancy of Canada

The workshop will consist of both lecture style information-sharing and a panel discussion. Workshops will be delivered in English with simultaneous French translation.
