OTTAWA, ON – Archery Canada is thrilled to announce their 2022 Senior National Compound Squad. Based on the selection addendum and minimum scores required, the following six men and five women have qualified to represent Canada in 2022. Archery Canada’s compound program returned to the world stage at the 2021 Hyundai World Archery Championships in Yankton, South Dakota.
The organization has prioritized the development of the compound program over the next five years through additional staff and funding resources. The short-term objective is to have Canada qualify a full team for the 2023 Pan American Games, as well as become a podium contender at Games and future World Championships. Given the challenges presented to our athletes during the pandemic, Archery Canada is pleased with the depth and experience of both the female and male squads.
The men’s senior target compound squad will consist of:
- Chris Perkins (Athens, ON)
- Andrew Fagan (Baltimore, ON)
- Jamie Brehaut (Lethbridge, AB)
- Robbie Nott (Ilderton, ON)
- Tristan Moran (Prince Albert, SK)
- Cory Smandych (Calgary, AB)
The women’s senior target compound squad will consist of:
- Karen Van Nest (South Bruce Peninsula, ON)
- Erin McGladdery (Marsden, SK)
- Fiona McClean (Belle River, ON)
- Kaity Horlock (Ajax, ON)
- Katie Roth (Rockwood, ON)
These athletes are the individuals who have qualified to be selected for different World Archery events in 2022, including the Hyundai Archery World Cup.
Chris Perkins secured the top spot in the men’s ranking when he secured a top 8 finish at the World Archery Championships in Yankton earlier this fall, which also qualifies him a spot at the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Alabama.
