Ah September. One of the busiest months of the year. So, where shall we begin?
We’ll start by congratulating all our Team Canada Paralympians as the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics have officially closed. Our women Paralympians leave the Games with a total of 11 of the 21 medals won by Canada! The major storylines of both the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games revolve around women. Not only on the leader boards, but for their advocacy for gender equity in this new era of sport.
So, what were some of our favourite moments from Tokyo 2020? Stay tuned for our 10 for 10 Tokyo 2020 Gender Equity Recap to remember some highlights and opportunities for growth. Be sure to check out the article to understand why we need to support women all year round, not just on the biggest stage and what impacts that will have on the future of our sport system.
September also marks National Coaches Week across Canada. From September 18 – 26th, we say #ThanksCoach to all the amazing coaches in our lives. We know that women are underrepresented in coaching roles at all levels throughout sport, so stay tuned for upcoming resources on coaching coming this fall.
