As a strategic thinker and trusted advisor, the Senior Manager People and Culture will play a pivotal role in shaping the workplace culture, people programs, practices and policies that drive organizational success. The Senior manager will provide industry expertise and manage the execution of the employee lifecycle including but not limited to onboarding and orientation, compensation and total rewards (salary, job evaluation and position, promotion, etc.), training, performance management and employee relations and offboarding.
Talent Acquisition
• Develop talent acquisition strategies and onboarding practices, programs, and policies that embed EDIA principles.
• Develop job descriptions, interview guides, testing mechanisms, and reference verifications to ensure hiring managers are equipped with up-to-date tools to assist in candidate assessment and selection.
• Maintain a robust HRIS (BambooHR), ensuring maximization of its use to facilitate HR processes and reports.
• Conduct stay and exit interviews and provide recommendations to leadership.
• Support leadership with succession planning and organizational design.
Performance Management
• Oversee the performance management process and employee recognition framework, providing analysis and insights to the leadership team for continuous improvement.
Compensation & Benefits
• Oversee the job evaluation and classification framework, compensation and pay equity program to ensure regulatory compliance and internal equity.
• In collaboration with consultants, review, negotiate and amend benefit plans to ensure market competitiveness and equity.
Training and Development
• Provide insight and administer required and supplemental training, lunch and learn sessions.
• Develop initiatives for education, awareness, and training on a wide range of human resource topics (i.e., performance management, workplace harassment, legislative and health and safety topics, etc.).
Employee Relations and Engagement
• Advance workplace strategies to foster an inclusive and healthy organization, respectful of the diversity of people and their skills and free from harassment.
• Champion inclusivity and diversity, develop culture initiatives, and implement strategies for EDIA and wellness.
• Promote company values of safety, excellence, integrity, innovation and collaboration.
• Support and coach leadership on workplace issues including performance improvement, absenteeism, conduct, disciplinary matters and support investigations with a third-party provider.
• Conduct Employee Pulse Engagement Survey to continuously improve the employee experience and drive strong cultural outcomes.
• Create and implement a plan for health, wellness, and connectivity, focusing on continuous improvement for staff engagement and retention.
General
• Monitor relevant Human Resources and Health and Safety Policies to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
• Provide interpretation and recommendations for the implementation of all relevant Human Resources legislation (Employment Standards Act, Pay Equity, Employment Equity, Occupational Health & Safety and Canada Human Rights Act).
• Communicate and train employees on new policies and procedures as required.
• Prepare letters and documentation required at various stages of the lifecycle, such as recruitment, leaves of absence, performance issues and job classifications.
• Ensure employee records are captured appropriately in BambooHR.
• Member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
• Collect and prepare monthly reports on key metrics and quarterly reports.
• Participate in various HR projects as required, including EDIA initiatives, work culture enhancement, health and wellness, and internal communications.
• Other duties as assigned to meet Skate Canada objectives.
