The Royal Canadian Legion National Headquarters is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as the Senior Program Officer, Corporate Services.

Location: Kanata, Ontario
Reports to: Director Corporate Services
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Status: Monday to Friday On-Site

Position Overview

The Senior Program Officer is responsible for directing and managing national programs, planning and implementing administrative services, and assisting in the development of organizational policies and initiatives. As the Dominion Sports Committee Coordinator, this position leads the delivery of the National Youth Track and Field Championships as well as three National Member Sports Championships. Additionally, the position provides administrative support to the National Headquarters and manages the Central Registry department.

Key Responsibilities:

National Programs

  • Develop and manage national programs, including the annual National Youth Track and Field Championships.
  • Provide strategic guidance on the implementation of the Legion Sports program and other national initiatives.
  • Manage program budgets, including forecasts, expenditure authorization, and revenue generation.
  • Coordinate the Dominion Member Sports Championships.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, reports, briefs, speeches, and studies related to the Legion Sports program and other Dominion Committees.
  • Research, develop, and implement policies and guidelines.
  • Conduct key stakeholder engagement with internal and external organizations.
  • Generate and retain partnerships and sponsorships for our national programs.
  • Provide administrative support to national events, including Remembrance Day Ceremonies and Dominion Conventions.

Administrative Support

  • Responsible for building administration and facilities, including the financial management of administrative budgets.
  • Act as the Security Officer for Legion House.
  • Provide oversight and supervision of the Central Registry department.
  • Responsible for the implementation of health and safety policies in accordance with occupational health and safety laws.
  • Negotiate and manage administrative service contracts.
  • Serve as the insurance coordinator for Legion House.
  • Provide staff support to assigned administrative functions and assist the Director of Corporate Services in the performance of administrative duties.

Education

  • Completed post-secondary degree in a relevant field.
  • A master’s degree in a relevant discipline is an asset.

Experience

  • Minimum of five years of administrative experience.
  • Minimum of five years of leadership or management experience.
  • Experience in sport program and/or national program management.
  • Logistics, budgeting, and financial control experience.
  • Experience in contract negotiations.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Military experience and bilingualism are assets.
