OPPORTUNITY:
Title: Intern, First Tee – Canada
Reports to: Coordinator, First Tee – Canada
Location: Hybrid: 3 days/week remote & 2 days/week in-person at Golf Canada Head Office, Oakville, Ontario
Status: Intern (May – August)
Ideal Start Date: May 5, 2024
OVERVIEW:
Golf Canada is looking for a motivated and mission-oriented individual to support the national implementation of First Tee. Reporting directly to the Coordinator, First Tee – Canada, the successful applicant will provide national support to First Tee chapter staff, positively contributing to a more accessible and diverse junior golf participation base.
AREAS OF FOCUS:
Operations – 50%
- Assist with day-to-day administrative tasks related to First Tee programming, including but not limited to:
- Coordinating the packaging, shipping, and tracking of First Tee equipment and marketing collateral to new program locations across Canada.
- Providing timely and informative customer service to stakeholders, including parents, golf professionals, teachers, and youth leaders.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of First Tee programming in all provinces.
- Assist with national program reporting and data collection.
- Support First Tee – Canada staff with additional duties as they arise.
Events – 30%
- Support the organization and execution of First Tee – Canada activations at Golf Canada’s professional championships, including the RBC Canadian Open and the CPKC Women’s Open.
- Coordinate all aspects of Golf Canada’s “Walk with a Pro” event at both professional championships, including:
- Developing a schedule.
- Confirming participants.
- Managing ticketing and other logistical details.
- Assist with the implementation and delivery of special events, such as:
- Community activations.
- Try-it sessions.
- Fundraising events.
- Other initiatives as required.
Marketing – 20%
- Assist the First Tee Marketing & Communications team in facilitating relationships with and supporting regional First Tee chapter staff in marketing efforts across the country.
- Support the First Tee Marketing & Communications team with the planning and execution of work-back schedules for projects using Jira project management software.
- Assist in the development, creation, and deployment of newsletters (via Mailchimp) to First Tee’s various audiences.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES:
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a post-secondary degree in Sport Business/Management.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Motivated and enthusiastic individual with an interest in impacting youth through sport.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with keen attention to detail.
- Prior experience executing events is considered an asset.
- Bilingualism (French and English) is considered an asset.
- Ability to travel as needed.
