Overview of the Position

The Coordinator, Torch Relay and Partnerships will play a key role in the planning and execution of the Torch Relay program and will support partnership fulfillment efforts.

Key Responsibilities

This role will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Planning and executing the Torch Relay program in alignment with event goals and brand guidelines.
  • Liaising with municipalities and community partners to secure necessary permits and permissions for Torch Relay event execution.
  • Coordinating with the Volunteer Services team for the recruitment, training, and scheduling of volunteers to support the Torch Relay.
  • Working with Marketing to draft and execute a promotional plan to engage communities along the route and encourage public participation in the Torch Relay.
  • Collaborating with Partnerships to plan and execute partner events.
  • Supporting the development, organization, and delivery of sponsor recognition and fulfillment activities.
  • Providing ongoing support to all partners, including the Canada Games Council and other national partners.
  • Maintaining positive and healthy relationships as a fully engaged team member.
  • Executing responsibilities in alignment with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the St. John’s 2025 Canada Games.
  • Fulfilling other duties as reasonably required.

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in Event Management, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years of related work experience or a combined equivalent of education and work experience.

Qualifications

  • Event planning and project management experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with community partners.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage logistics, budgets, and schedules efficiently.
  • Creative, results-oriented, and capable of delivering on deadlines and deliverables.
  • Proficient with Google’s G Suite programs (e.g., Gmail, Docs, Slides, Forms, and Calendar).
  • Knowledge and experience working in events and the not-for-profit sector.
  • Ability to liaise and interact with multiple partners locally, provincially, and nationally.

Other Assets

  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on position requirements.

Conditions of Employment

  • Office hours: 40 hours/week.
  • All applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada at the time of application.
  • A Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
  • Credential checks may be required for specified positions.
