Swim Nova Scotia​ – Winnipeg, MB- Nova Scotia’s swimmers were off to a strong start today in the pool during the first day of competition at the 2017 Canada Games in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Top swims of the day today included, 15-year-old Madison Archer in the women’s 1500m Freestyle, where she finished fifth with a personal best time of 17:45.17.  Hayden Bartoch finished the men’s 800m Freestyle with a personal best time of 9:07.74 and a 13^th place finish overall.  On the Para side, Holly Doucette finished the S5 women’s 200m Freestyle in 14^th also with a best time of 7:13.67.

Other top swims of the day included Grace Earle in the women’s 1500m Freestyle with a time of 19:01.91 and Nicholas Bourbonniere with a time of 9:23.99 in the men’s 800m Freestyle.

On the relay side the women’s team placed 7th with a time of 8:56.04 in the 4x200m Freestyle Relay (Hanna Mountford, Madison Archer, Emma Burke, Ava Vial) while the men’s team placed 6th with a time of 8:23.46 in the same relay event (Hayden Bartoch, Nicholas Bourbonniere, Ethan Boyle, Bo Stokesbury-Price).

Twenty-six swimmers from across Nova Scotia have been selected to represent Team Nova Scotia at the 2017 Canada Summer Games this week in Winnipeg, MB.

The Nova Scotia swim team is comprised of 24 able bodied swimmers (12 male and 12 female), one PARA swimmer and one Canadian Special Olympians.
