Skate Canada to host 2023 ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships®

OTTAWA, ON: The International Skating Union (ISU) has awarded the 2023 ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships® to Skate Canada, who will host the event in Calgary, Alberta. This premium event will take place at WinSport Arena at Canada Olympic Park from February 27-March 5, 2023.

“Skate Canada is pleased to be hosting another top-tier event in Calgary at WinSport Arena at Canada Olympic Park for the 2023 ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships,” said Debra Armstrong, CEO, Skate Canada. “Calgary is no stranger to hosting successful events and Skate Canada is confident that this event will be no different. We are thrilled to be welcoming the future stars of figure skating in 2023.”

The ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships is an annual event that moves around the globe, showcasing the best young skaters from around the world, competing for the world junior titles in men’s, women’s, pairs and ice dance.
Skate Canada has a long and illustrious history of hosting ISU sanctioned events, having previously held the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships five times. This will be the first time Calgary has been selected to host the event. Canada has hosted the championships in London (1981), Kitchener (1987,2005), Hull (1992), and Saint John (1998).

“Calgary is a preeminent winter sport city and we are ecstatic to be hosting the 2023 ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championship.” said Jeff Daniels, Executive Director, Sport, Culture & Major Events at Tourism Calgary. “We had the privilege of collaborating with Skate Canada on a first-class bid and are pleased to have secured the event and its projected $8 million in economic impact for our city. Not only do international events like these provide benefits to support the recovery of Calgary’s visitor economy, they also deliver promotional and branding opportunities that enhance Calgary’s position as Canada’s Ultimate Host City.”

Patinage Canada accueillera les Championnats du monde juniors ISU de patinage

OTTAWA (ONT.) – L’Union internationale de patinage (ISU) a décerné à Patinage Canada les Championnats du monde juniors ISU de patinage artistique 2023, qui auront lieu à Calgary, en Alberta. Cet événement prestigieux se tiendra à la patinoire WinSport, du Parc Olympique Canada, du 27 février au 5 mars 2023.

« Patinage Canada se réjouit de présenter un autre événement de premier ordre, les Championnats du monde juniors ISU de patinage artistique 2023, à Calgary, à la patinoire WinSport, du Parc Olympique Canada », a déclaré Debra Armstrong, chef de la direction générale de Patinage Canada. « Dans le passé, la ville de Calgary a été l’hôte d’événements couronnés de succès et Patinage Canada est persuadé que cet événement ne sera aucunement différent. Nous serons ravis d’accueillir les futures étoiles du patinage artistique, en 2023. »

Événement annuel, les Championnats du monde juniors ISU de patinage artistique se tiennent à différents endroits à travers le monde et mettent en vedette les meilleurs jeunes patineurs au niveau international, se disputant les titres mondiaux juniors en patinage en simple masculin et féminin, en patinage en couple et en danse sur glace.

Patinage Canada a de longs et illustres antécédents d’accueil d’événements sanctionnés par l’ISU, ayant déjà présenté les Championnats du monde juniors ISU de patinage artistique à cinq reprises. Ce sera la première fois que Calgary sera choisie pour la tenue de l’événement. Le Canada a été l’hôte de ces championnats à London (1981), Kitchener (1987, 2005), Hull (1992) et Saint John (1998).

« Calgary est une ville prééminente de sports d’hiver et nous sommes ravis d’accueillir les Championnats du monde juniors ISU de patinage artistique 2023 », a signalé Jeff Daniels, directeur général de Sport, culture et événements majeurs, de Tourism Calgary. « Nous avons eu le privilège de collaborer avec Patinage Canada à une excellente soumission et sommes heureux d’avoir été sélectionnés pour présenter l’événement, ayant des retombées économiques prévues de 8 millions de dollars pour notre ville. Non seulement des événements internationaux comme celui-ci offrent-ils des avantages pour soutenir la reprise de l’économie touristique de Calgary, mais ils comptent également des possibilités de promotion et de valorisation de la marque, qui mettent en valeur la position de Calgary comme ville hôte suprême du Canada. »
