OTTAWA, ON (November 14, 2022) – After a successful trip to Sheffield, Great Britain, Canadian skaters make their way to Sapporo, Japan for the fifth stop on the ISU Grand Prix circuit. Canada will be sending a small squad comprised of two men and one team in pair and ice dance at the NHK Trophy, scheduled to take place from November 18-20, 2022.  

Stephen Gogolev and Conrad Orzel will represent the maple leaf in the men’s discipline. Gogolev kicked off his first senior season by finishing 6th at the 2022 U.S. International Figure Skating Classic and 7th at the 2022 Skate Canada International. Orzel has competed at both the Finlandia Trophy and Skate Canada International, where he finished 11th.  

The young team of Brooke McIntosh and Benjamin Mimar will be the face of Canada in the pair discipline. McIntosh and Mimar have gotten off to an electric start in their senior careers by winning bronze at the 2022 Finlandia Trophy and placing 4th on home soil at Skate Canada International. 

In ice dance, Olympians Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Nikolaj Soerensen will look to continue their medal streak, with the duo securing a gold medal at the 2022 Finlandia Trophy and a silver medal at the 2022 Grand Prix de France.   

The competition starts on Friday, November 18 with every discipline performing their short program/rhythm dance. All medals will be awarded on Saturday, November 19, as all disciplines will perform their free program/free dance. The event concludes on Sunday with the exhibition gala.

OTTAWA, ONT. (le 14 novembre 2022) – À la suite d’un voyage couronné de succès, à Sheffield, en Grande-Bretagne, des patineurs canadiens se rendront à Sapporo, au Japon, pour le cinquième arrêt du circuit du Grand Prix ISU. Le Canada enverra une petite équipe composée de deux hommes et d’une équipe de patinage en couple et aussi de danse sur glace au Trophée NHK, qui aura lieu du 18 au 20 novembre 2022.  

Stephen Gogolev et Conrad Orzel représenteront la feuille d’érable dans la discipline masculine. Stephen a amorcé sa première saison senior en terminant 6e à la U.S. International Figure Skating Classic 2022 et 7e aux Internationaux Patinage Canada 2022. Conrad a concouru au Trophée Finlandia et aux Internationaux Patinage Canada, où il a obtenu une 11e place. 

La jeune équipe formée de Brooke McIntosh et Benjamin Mimar sera le visage du Canada dans la discipline du patinage en couple. Brooke et Benjamin ont connu un débutant éclatant de leur carrière senior, avec la médaille de bronze au Trophée Finlandia 2022 et un classement en 4e place, au pays, aux Internationaux Patinage Canada. 

En danse sur glace, les olympiens Laurence Fournier Beaudry et Nikolaj Soerensen chercheront à ajouter à leurs médailles, après avoir remporté une médaille d’or au Trophée Finlandia 2022 et une médaille d’argent au Grand Prix de France 2022.   

La compétition commencera le vendredi 18 novembre et chaque discipline exécutera son programme court ou danse rythmique. Toutes les médailles seront décernées après que tous les patineurs et équipes auront présenté leur programme libre ou danse libre. L’événement se termine dimanche avec le gala d’exhibition.  Équipe Canada
