U Sports – TORONTO (U Sports) – Calgary Dinos quarterback Jimmy Underdahl, Laval kicker Adam Auclair, and Dinos kicker Niko DiFonte are the U Sports football players of the week for the period ending Nov. 20, 2016. 

Underdahl, a fifth-year business student from Calgary, Alta., returned from an injury suffered Oct. 14 in the second half of the Mitchell Bowl for the Dinos, finishing the game 11-for-16, for a total of 217 yards and two touchdowns. He led Calgary to 32 second half points as they defeated the AUS finalist StFX X-Men, 50-24. Underdahl’s performance earned him the Mitchell Bowl MVP in his home finale at McMahon Stadium.

Receivers Brentyn Hall of Laurier, Dejuan Martin of StFX, and Félix Faubert-Lussier of Laval were also nominated for the honour.

Auclair, a first-year consumer scienes student from Notre-Dame-des-Pins, Que., continued to be a defensive force for the Rouge et Or. Leading the team with a total of seven tackles, five of which were solo, he would also force a fumble in the third quarter.

Defensive backs Godfrey Onyeka from Laurier, Hayden Peters of StFX, and Hunter Turnbull of Calgary were others nominated for the award. 

DiFonte, a first-year arts student from Winnipeg, Man., went three-for-three from field goal range, his longest from 41-yards out, scoring 16 of Calgary’s 50 points. He also kicked  for a total 383 yards, averaging 63.8 yards per kick. 

StFX kicker Jonathan Heidebrecht, Laurier defensive back Godfrey Onyeka, and kicker Félix Faubert-Lussier of Laval were the other nominees for the award.
