Montreal – April 11, 2022. The Canadian Elite women will look to build on their success from the
Continental Championships at the 2022 IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships. The competition will
take place from May 6th to 21st in Istanbul, Turkey. The following boxers will represent Canada at this
tournament:

48 kg Priyanka Dhillon
54 kg Scarlett Delgado
66 kg Charlie Cavanagh
75 kg Tammara Thibeault

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Women’s World Boxing Championships have not been held since
2019, when Tammara Thibeault won bronze. Tammara will look to improve on that result while her
teammates will be making their debut in this competition.


“After two years of cancellations, we are happy that the Women’s World Championships will finally take
place,” said Daniel Trépanier, Boxing Canada’s High Performance Director. “This team performed well at
the Continental Championships and will now have an opportunity to improve on the international
scene.”


A training camp will be taking place in Kienbaum, Germany from April 25th to May 6th. The official draw is scheduled for Sunday, May 8th and the competition will begin the following day. All information relating to the tournament, such as draw sheets, schedule, and results, will be updated throughout the
championships on our Event webpage and social media platforms.

Montréal – 11 avril 2022. Les boxeuses canadiennes de catégorie élite tenteront de continuer leur succès suite aux Championnats continentaux aux Championnats mondiaux féminins IBA 2022. La compétition aura lieu du 6 au 21 mai à Istanbul, en Turquie. Les boxeuses suivantes participeront au tournoi :

À cause de la pandémie de la COVID-19, les Championnats du monde féminins n’ont pas eu lieu depuis 2019 lorsque Tammara Thibeault a remporté la médaille de bronze. Tammara tentera d’améliorer sur son dernier résultat tandis que ses coéquipières feront leur début à cette compétition.

« Après deux ans d’annulations, nous sommes contents que les Championnats du monde féminins auront finalement lieu, dit Daniel Trépanier, Directeur Haute Performance de Boxe Canada. Cette équipe a bien performé aux Championnats continentaux et aura maintenant une opportunité à améliorer sur la scène internationale. » Un camp d’entraînement aura lieu du 25 avril au 6 mai à Kienbaum, en Allemagne.

Le tirage au sort aura lieu dimanche le 8 mai et la compétition débutera le jour suivant. Toute l’information concernant le tournoi, tel que les feuilles de tirage, les horaires et les résultats, sera mise à jour tout au long des championnats sur notre Page Web de l’événement et nos réseaux sociaux.
