Ottawa – September 28, 2022 – The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) announced today that Audrey Sawers, a field hockey athlete, received a one-month sanction for an anti-doping rule violation. The athlete’s urine sample, collected during out-of-competition doping control on July 23, 2022, revealed the presence of canrenone, a prohibited diuretic and masking agent.

The prohibited substance was consumed by the athlete in a prescription medication for which a therapeutic use exemption (TUE) had not yet been granted by the CCES. The CCES has since granted the athlete a TUE for use of canrenone.

Ottawa – le 28 septembre 2022 – Le Centre canadien pour l’éthique dans le sport (CCES) a annoncé aujourd’hui qu’Audrey Sawers, une athlète de hockey sur gazon, s’est vu imposer une suspension d’un mois pour une violation des règles antidopage. L’échantillon d’urine de l’athlète, prélevé dans le cadre d’un contrôle du dopage hors compétition le 23 juillet 2022, a révélé la présence de canrenone, un diurétique ou agent masquant interdit.

La substance interdite a été consommée par l’athlète dans un médicament d’ordonnance pour lequel une autorisation pour usage thérapeutique (AUT) n’avait pas encore été accordée par le CCES. Le CCES a depuis accordé à l’athlète une AUT pour l’utilisation du canrenone.
