I·SPARC – The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) is holding ACM Learning Facilitator Training, October 13-15, 2017 in Victoria, BC and the Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation Council (I·SPARC) will support up to six candidates from BC to complete the training to become ACM course facilitators.

This intake of applications closes 4PM PST, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2017. Successful candidates will be notified by September 12, 2017.

ACM LEARNING FACILITATOR (LF) TRAINING

Date: October 13 – 15, 2017 
Location: Hotel Grand Pacific, Victoria, BC 
Master Facilitators: Greg Henhawk and Dorothy Paul 

AGENDA
Day 1 – Friday, October 13 
13:00 – 21:00* Core Learning Facilitator Training (through viaSport)  
*time to be confirmed

Day 2 – Saturday, October 14 
9:00– 16:00 ACM Content Specific Training Part I 

Day 3 – Sunday, October 15 
9:00 – 16:00 ACM Content Specific Training Part II and Microfacilitations  

Note: All LF candidates must complete the Core LF and Content specific training (days 1-3) in order to progress to the co-delivery step. ACM training involves a phased approach where once the three day training is completed, there would need to be completion of co-delivery and evaluation pieces in order to be considered certified as an ACM LF.

PRE-REQUISITES
In order to be accepted into the learning facilitator training workshops, LF candidates must meet the following prerequisites: 

• Have already completed the Aboriginal Coaching Modules (ACM) course
• Be of Indigenous ancestry as defined by the Aboriginal Sport Circle (anyone of First Nation (status and non-status Indian), Métis or Inuit ancestry) 
• An active coach, or has actively coached, holding NCCP training and certification 
• Possess strong communication skills
• Be a resident of BC
• Be endorsed by the relevant Provincial Aboriginal Sport Body (i.e. I·SPARC)

FEES?

There will be NO financial cost to the selected candidates as we are pleased to announce that the costs of participating in the training will be shared between CAC and I·SPARC. Participants will be reimbursed for travel expenses to/from Victoria and meals en route. 3-night stay at the host hotel and meals will be provided.

ABORIGINAL COACHING MODULE (ACM) COURSE

The Aboriginal Coaching Modules (ACM) is a professional development training tool for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal coaches who coach Aboriginal athletes, as they become certified through the NCCP.  

The ACM responds to the need for a national training curriculum with content that reflects the uniqueness of Aboriginal cultures, values, and lifestyles. The material in the ACM is rolled out in 3 modules:

Module 1 – Holistic Approach to Coaching 
Module 2 – Dealing with Racism in Sport 
Module 3 – Individual and Community Health and Wellness
