VIRTUAL EVENT THIS WEEKEND TO HIGHLIGHT OPPORTUNITIES FOR WOMEN

OTTAWA – Football Canada is pleased to announce that the inaugural Women and Girls in Football conference will take place on Saturday, Oct. 16 and Sunday, Oct. 17. The virtual event, which forms part of Football Weekend in Canada, will provide an outstanding opportunity for girls and women to explore the opportunities available to them within football.

The event’s first day, on Saturday, Oct. 16, will run from 10:30 a.m. (all times Eastern) to 4:30 p.m. The first session is scheduled to feature programs from Ontario and the Atlantic provinces. At 11:30, Dia Syed, the founder of Girls in Sport Alberta, will lead a session on how to start a program for women and girls. That will be followed by the second regional workshop, covering programs in Quebec and the West. 

Afternoon sessions include discussions on high performance pathways (1:30 p.m., led by Shannon Donovan of Football

Sunday features a panel discussion from 7:30 to 9:05 p.m. The first half will cover coaching paths in football, led by Saadia Ashraf and Marci Halseth, while the evening concludes with a panel on career paths in football, with several women in administrative positions (Molly Campbell of the Calgary Stampeders, Laurence Pontbriand of the CFL, Natalie Agro of the University of Toronto and Katie Miyazaki of Football Canada).

L’ÉVÉNEMENT VIRTUEL DE CE WEEKEND METTRA EN VALEUR LES POSSIBILITÉS POUR LES FEMMES

OTTAWA – Football Canada a le plaisir d’annoncer que la première édition de la conférence de Football Canada pour les femmes et les filles aura lieu les samedi 16 et dimanche 17 octobre. L’événement en mode virtuel, qui fait partie du Weekend du football au Canada, offrira aux filles et aux femmes une occasion exceptionnelle d’explorer les possibilités qui s’offrent à elles dans le monde du football.  

La première journée de l’événement, le samedi 16 octobre, se déroulera de 10 h 30 à 16 h 30 (heure de l’Est). La première séance présentera des programmes de l’Ontario et des provinces de l’Atlantique. À 11 h 30, Dia Syed, fondatrice de Girls in Sport Alberta, animera une séance sur la façon de démarrer un programme pour les femmes et les filles. Cette séance sera suivie du deuxième atelier régional qui couvrira les programmes du Québec et de l’Ouest.

Les séances de l’après-midi comprennent des discussions sur les parcours de haute performance (13 h 30, animée par Shannon Donovan de Football Canada), le pouvoir du sport (14 h, avec la Dre Adrienne Leslie-Toogood) et les différentes façons de s’impliquer dans le football (15 h 15) avec Heather Bury (gérante de l’équipement, Hilltops de Saskatoon), ainsi que les thérapeutes du sport Michelle Keene et Constance Millaire-Piché.

La journée de dimanche comprend une table ronde de 19 h 30 à 21 h 05. La première partie couvrira les parcours d’entraînement dans le football et sera animée par Saadia Ashraf et Marci Halseth, puis la soirée se terminera par un panel sur les cheminements de carrière dans le football, animé par quatre femmes occupant des postes administratifs (Molly Campbell des Stampeders de Calgary, Laurence Pontbriand de la LCF, Natalie Agro de l’Université de Toronto et Katie Miyazaki de Football Canada).
