BC Rugby – Vancouver, BC – December 8, 2016: BC Rugby’s 2nd Annual Vancouver Rugby Festival will be returning on March 9th and 10th, 2017. Held in conjunction with the HSBC Canada Sevens Tournament, the Festival welcomes teams of varying skill levels and ages to enter.

Games will be held in various venues across Vancouver culminating in the Women’s Elite division gold and bronze medal matches at BC Place, during day one of the HSBC Canada Sevens tournament. Also on the line will be CAD$5000 winner-takes-all prize money for the Men’s and Women’s Elite Sevens winners.

Headlining the Women’s Elite division will be Rugby Canada’s Women’s Sevens Team while Fiji Blond will returning to the Men’s Elite division and will be looking to challenge Rugby Canada’s Maple Leafs. 

Currently, the competition divisions are:

  • Elite Men & Women Sevens
  • Open Men & Women Sevens
  • U18 Boys & Girls Sevens
  • U16 Boys & Girls Sevens
  • Over 40s XVs Rugby

The Vancouver Rugby Festival is also offering exclusive discounts to the HSBC Canada Sevens Tournament as well as discounts for hotel accommodations for travelling teams. These special offers have limited availability and are offered on a first come, first serve basis. Teams thinking about entering the Festival are encouraged to register by the end of this month to secure discounted tournament passes for the Vancouver stop of the World Rugby Sevens Series.

Registration is CAD$500 per team. The deadline to register is January 31st, 2017 or when spots are filled. Registered teams will be announced on BC Rugby’s Facebook page and website in the coming weeks.

The Vancouver Rugby Festival is the perfect chance for local and visiting teams to take part in what will be an exciting rugby-filled week.
