Nova Scotia Golf Association – Halifax, NS — The first days of winter are the beginning of a promising season for ten young golfers (ages 14-17) who have been selected to represent Nova Scotia in competition regionally and nationally, the Nova Scotia Golf Association (NSGA) announced today.

“We are fortunate to have such talented young men and women representing the NSGA both provincially and nationally. They are exceptional young golfers on and off the course.” said David Campbell, Executive Director of NSGA. “Having watched this program grow year after year and seeing first-hand the benefits it has had on team members has been an amazing experience.”

Andrew Noseworthy, NSGA’s Director of Sport Development says, “Whether they’re new or returning athletes, we’re very excited for this group. They are experienced competitors who are on the rise. This squad will surely be competitive and be proud representatives of Nova Scotia sport.”

  • Finished tied for 12th place at Future Links Atlantics

  • Finished tied for 40th place at 2016 Canadian Junior Boy’s Championship

Heather McLean, Port Williams, NS – Ken-Wo Golf Club

  • 16 years old
  • 4th year on Team NS
  • Attended 3 Canadian Junior Girls’ Championships and finishing in 46th place in 2016
  • 2015 NSGA Girl’s Player of the Year

Meghan McLean, Port Williams, NS – Ken-Wo Golf Club

  • 17 years old
  • 4th year on Team NS
  • Made the cut at the 2016 Canadian Women’s Amateur
  • Golf Scholarship to Central Connecticut State University beginning in 2017-18

Team NS is supported by PGA Coaches Jeff MacDonald (Head Coach), Andrew Noseworthy (NSGA Director of Sport Development) and Dr. Lori Dithurbide (Mental Performance Consultant).

Team NS gets training underway in December with a focus on strength and conditioning. In February, technical training will begin indoors and then tournament preparation becomes the team’s priority from April onwards. The tournament schedule is almost complete with important dates at the Future Links Quebec in June, NSGA Cobra Puma Junior Championships and Future Links Atlantic in July, and Golf Canada Junior Championships in August.
