Schedule Update for Viessmann Luge World Cup in Whistler
Canadian Luge Association —Training pushed back until December 9 afternoon, one-run races to be held Saturday evening—
WHISTLER, B.C.—A heavy snowstorm that hit the Canadian prairies earlier in the week has
prevented a truck transporting athletes’ sleds from arriving into Whistler, B.C. for the Viessmann Luge World Cup.
The sleds are now scheduled to arrive at the Whistler Sliding Centre on December 9 at
12:30 p.m. Training will begin Friday at 2:30 p.m. and continue Saturday morning. The
Canadian Team will be on the ice at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
In an effort to still stage a successful event, International Luge Federation officials have condensed race formats to one-run competitions for women’s singles, men’s
singles and doubles. The Viessmann Team Relay World Cup, presented by BMW has been cancelled.
