National Team Archer Retires
Archery Canada – OTTAWA (December 22, 2016) – Archery Canada six-year national team member, Patrick Rivest Bunster of Montreal, Québec, recently announced his retirement from international archery competition. Patrick’s career as a member of the national team began as a 24 year old in Torino, Italy. Patrick’s international career spanned six years, during which he competed for Canada at numerous competitions, Pan American Games, world championships and world cup events.
“Although it is difficult to leave my international archery career behind, I felt it was time to focus on my career aspirations”, said Rivest Bunster. “I have fond memories of my Pan Am Games and national team career. I would like to thank Archery Canada for its support.”
Patrick’s list of major international competitions includes:
· Pan American Games: 2011 (Guadalajara, Mexico) and 2015 (Toronto, Ontario)
· World Championships: 2015 (Copenhagen, Denmark), 2011 (Torino, Italy)
· World Cup Teams: 2016 (Shanghai, China; Medellin, Colombia; Antalya, Turkey)
2015 (Shanghai, China),
2013 (Shanghai, China; Medellin, Colombia)
2012 (Ogden, Utah)
· 2012 London Olympic Test event
In addition to his international success, Rivest Bunster was 3rd in the 2010 Canadian Championships, 2nd in 2012 and won the 2014 Canadian championships in Lac La Biche, Alberta.
National Recurve Coach Joan McDonald (Richmond Hill, ON) stated: “Patrick has been an excellent member of many Canadian teams. His cheerful, positive attitude has had an impact on his teammates and others in the sport. It has been a pleasure working with Patrick and to watch his development as an international competitor. We will miss him and wish him all the best with the archery business he has started in the Montreal area.
