Manitoba Hydro Torch Relay in full swing!
2017 Canada Summer Games – THIS WEEK at the 2017 Canada Summer Games: June 26-July 2, 2017
With 32 days to go until the Opening Ceremony of the 2017 Canada Summer Games, Games’ mascot Niibin is hitting the road, bringing the excitement of the Games across Manitoba. This week, the Canada Games’ Roly McLenahan Torch travels to southern AND northern Manitoba!
THURSDAY, JUNE 29
Morden, Manitoba welcomes the Manitoba Hydro Torch Relay!
- Relay start time: 10:30 a.m. at Manitoba Hydro office – Junction of Highway 3 and Road 26 W
- Relay route: The Torch Relay will begin at the corner of Victoria Street and Road 27 W, with eleven torchbearers carrying the Canada Games’ Roly McLenahan Torch down a portion of Victoria Street. The final leg of the Relay will end at the Hydro office, where the community will gather for a celebration.
- Community Celebration will follow: 12:00pm at Manitoba Hydro office – Junction of Highway 3 and Road 26 W
- Open to all! Come feel the excitement when the Canada Summer Games come to Morden!
- *Torch bearers and organizers are available for interviews before or at the event

Manitoba Hydro Torch Relay Backgrounder
SATURDAY, JULY 1
- Relay start time: 3:00 p.m. at the Gillam Ball Diamond, corner of Butnau Road (1 Street East) and Niksu Bay
- Relay route: The Torch Relay will begin at the Gillam Ball Diamond, with thirteen torchbearers* carrying the Canada Games’ Roly McLenahan Torch up Butnau Road (1 street East) to Northern Drive, then continue to Railway Street West and back up Butnau Road (I Street East) to the ball diamond, where the community will gather for a celebration. - Community Celebration will follow: 5:30 p.m. at Gillam Ball Diamond
- Open to all! Come feel the excitement when the Canada Summer Games come to Gillam/Fox Lake!
