Freestyle Canada  – Sierra Nevada, Spain, March 8, 2017 – Justine Dufour-Lapointe and Mikaël Kingsbury both snapped up bronze at today’s World Championships single moguls competition in Sierra Nevada, Spain. Despite these third-place finishes not being the results the athletes had hoped for, both are happy with their performances on a course that was affected by changing conditions.
 
“To be at Worlds, and to win a fourth medal feels surreal… I am very proud of the way I skied today. The course was challenging and the conditions kept changing, but I am happy with my performance,” said Justine Dufour-Lapointe, who also finished third in the FIS general rankings this season.
 
Mikaël Kingsbury, who won seven consecutive World Cup victories this season, would certainly have liked to carry the momentum into today’s event, but the win went to Japanese Ikuma Horishima. “I didn’t hear Ikuma’s score before my run in super final. I stayed focused on the task,” said the Deux-Montagnes native. “I knew that if I did my run as  intended, I could score as high as him. Unfortunately, I made a costly mistake on the bottom jump. Overall, I’m still happy with my day and to have won a seventh World Championships medal,” added the 2016-2017 season Crystal Globe winner.
 
The moguls athletes will be back in action on Thursday March 9 for the dual moguls competition. The event will be live-streamed on CBC.ca as of 6:00 a.m. ET / 3:00 p.m. PT.
