Sport Manitoba – June 27, 11:00 am: Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame Announces Their 2017 Induction Slate
Who: This year’s individual recipients in the Athlete category include: a legend in University women’s basketball, an Olympian from badminton, an all-around female athlete who represented Manitoba in four different sports at the national level and a male athlete who did so in six sports and the most decorated Winter Olympian in our country’s history. The Builder category is made up of a barrier-shattering leader in university athletics, a pioneer in both sport medicine and Special Olympics, and a former national President in golf. Our first female world junior curling championship team will round out the new slate of inductees. Many of our new inductees will be available for interview.

The Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame’s mandate is to collect, preserve, showcase and celebrate the history and heritage of sport excellence in Manitoba.

The MSSA is a non-profit, fraternal organization of sports media members who select Athletes of the Year, hands out the Jack Matheson Award and Ron Meyers Memorial scholarships, recognizes the careers of sportswriters and sportscasters through the Media Roll of Honour and acts as an advocate for sports journalism issues.

Sport Manitoba is a not for profit organization and the lead planning, programming and funding agency for the development of amateur sport in Manitoba. Located in the Canada Games Sport for Life Centre, Sport Manitoba partners with over 100 organizations to deliver sport in our province and is responsible for programs including the Manitoba GamesCoaching ManitobaTeam ManitobaManitoba Sports Hall of FameFit Kids Healthy Kids, and KidSport.
