Squash Canada – OTTAWA, ON, January 5, 2017 – Starting tomorrow, 25 elite Canadian athletes will converge in Gatineau as Squash Outaouais and la Sporthèque host the 2017 Canadian Women’s Team Championship. From January 6th to 8th, eight (8) teams from across the country will compete for the national title.
During the 3 days, over 50 matches will be played giving squash players, fans and the general public from the Gatineau and Ottawa regions the opportunity to watch a number of high calibre performances.
The 2017 event features five athletes who are currently ranked in the top 10 in Canada, including world ranked 56th and Canadian High Performance Squad member, Nikole Todd, (Saskatchewan), who is coming off a recent 10th place finish with Team Canada at the recent Women’s World Team Championship held in France last December.
Team Ontario is the reigning champions and enter the 2017 seeded #2 led by Canadian Transition Squad member Micaala Seth. Team Alberta takes the #1 seed in advance of the championship and look to better their 3rd place finish in 2016.
