Tokyo 2020 Olympian in Sailing Ali ten Hove to meet with up-and-coming sailors in Kingston Friday and Sunday
She will meet with athletes competing at Sail Canada’s 2021 29er Youth Championships
Kingston, August 18, 2021 – Tokyo 2020 Olympian in Sailing Ali ten Hove from Kingston, ON, will be in her hometown this weekend to meet with the up-and-coming athletes who are taking part in Sail Canada’s 29er Youth Championships.
At her first Olympic Games, Ali ten Hove and her teammate Mariah Millen took 16th spot in the 49er FX class.
Friday, the Olympic sailor will meet with the top 60 youth athletes from across the country who are 19 years of age and younger and all aiming to earn a spot and represent Canada at the Youth World Championships to be held in December in Oman.
Following is Ali ten Hove’s schedule for Friday, August 20, and Sunday, August 22, in Kingston:
Friday, August 20:
- 9am to 10:30am: She will walk in the boat park and meet with the young sailors before the start of their competition
- 10:30am to 11am: She will meet with media representatives
Sunday, August 22:
- Between 4pm and 6pm (to be confirmed based on weather and when racing ends): She will take part in the awards presentation

About Sail Canada’s Youth 29er Championships
Sail Canada’s Youth Championships usually include the i420, Club 420, ILCA 4 (Laser 4.7), ILCA 6 (Laser Radial) and 29er classes at the same event. But this year, due to COVID-19 restrictions and precautions that need to be taken, the competition will take the form of a series of smaller events. The Championships for the Club 420 class were held July 26-29, followed by the ILCA 4 (4.7) and ILCA 6 (Radial) Youth Championships, August 9-12. The 29er event will take place August 19-22.
The competition, hosted by CORK Sail Kingston, will be held simultaneously to Sail Canada’s Senior Championships for the 49er and 49er FX and CORK Olympic Classes Regatta, as well as CORK I14 Regatta.
To ensure the safety of the sailors who will be taking part in the competition, the event will be held in accordance with all public health and social measures that are in place.
