Water Polo Canada – (Ottawa, ON – August 18 2017) – Water Polo Canada coaching staff has announced the 14 player roster that will travel to Greece in preparation for the upcoming FINA World Women’s Junior Water Polo Championships taking place September 3-9 2017 in Volos, Greece. The official 13 player roster will be released September 2nd.

The Canadian women have qualified for this international event by finishing first at 2016 Junior Pan American Championships in Edmonton, Alberta last summer. Team Canada’s roster features many experienced players as some of the athletes who competed earlier this summer at the 2017 FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary. In 2015, the Canadian women finished just off the podium, losing to Russia in the bronze medal match. Canada will be looking to improve from their 2015 performance and will now focus on coming together as a team in their last weeks of preparation.

“Selection camp went well, we are happy with how the athletes prepared for the camp and how they held themselves, competed and learned to play the system throughout the selection process. We are now focused on our preparation in advance of the World Championships.  This is a crucial time for us to continue to improve leading up to the World Championships and come together as a team” said Andrew Robinson, Head Coach of the 20U Women’s National Team.
