Bowls Canada Boulingrin – After a tough week of round robin competition, Pricilla Westlake of Delta, British Columbia won the women’s Indoor Singles Championships on Saturday November 5th, winning back to back Indoor Singles titles.  Hirendra Bhartu, a member of the Nanaimo Lawn Bowling Club in British Columbia, won the men’s Indoor Singles Championship title. 

In the men’s pool, Bhartu faced John Bjornson of Winnipeg, Manitoba in the gold medal match after leading the pack with an 11-0 record.  The men played a terrific gold medal game with several tight ends that had fans on the edge of their seats.  In the end, Bhartu edged out Bjornson to walk away with the championship (9-6, 7-6).  Greg Wilson of Calgary, Alberta defeated defending champion Vince Mai of Vancouver, British Columbia to win the bronze medal. 

First time competitor, Elizabeth Cormack of Agincourt Lawn Bowling Club in Ontario, faced defending champion Westlake in the gold medal match after leading the group based on sets won.  Despite Cormack winning the first set, Westlake fought back to win the gold in the tie-breaker round (5-7, 10-6, 5-0).  In the bronze medal game, Josephine Lee of British Columbia defeated Linda Ng to round out the podium.
 

Westlake and Bhartu have won the right to represent Canada at the 2017 World Cup in Warilla, Australia from March 14-22, 2017.
