  • Water Polo Canada –  Media Advisory– Olympic trials-bound men’s national water polo team invites media to attend training and workshop for young athletes

 

(CALGARY, January 27, 2016) – The men’s national water polo team, currently preparing for the Olympic trials, is holding a media day at the Talisman Centre for its training session and workshop with young athletes on Saturday January 30 at noon (12 p.m.).

 

The men’s national team has recently returned from a joint training camp in HUN (Budapest) held from January 7 to 20 and has, upon its return, chosen to use a free day to meet and inspire their young Canadian fans.

 

The men’s team is currently in final preparations for the 2016 Olympic Qualification Tournament (OQT) to be held in Trieste, Italy, from April 4 to 10th, 2016. The men are set to depart for Europe in the third week of March to train and compete until the OQT is completed on April 10th, hopefully having claimed one of four bertths to the Rio 2016 Olympics.

About Water Polo Canada’s Senior Mens’ National Team: The men’s national team trains out of Talisman Centre in Calgary and is heading towards the Olympic Qualification Tournament determined to capture one of the four available berth for the Rio 2016 Olympics. In his last major competition, the team earned the bronze at the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games last summer.
