Water Polo Canada – Montreal, May 1st 2017 – Water Polo Canada (WPC) is proud to announce its roster for the upcoming FINA World League Tournament. The 2017 FINA World League tournament is to be held in Davis, California from May 2 to 8, 2017. Canada will be competing against five other nations; Australia, China, Japan, Kazakhstan and the United States of America.

Following the 2016 competitive season, the Canadian Senior Women’s Water Polo team went through a transition period after the retirement of some of the senior players. Several experienced players remained with the team, including Joelle Bekhazi, Dominique Perreault and Marina Radu. For many players, this World League tournament will be their first international competition as a member of the Canadian National team at the Senior Level.

“This will be the first tournament of our competitive calendar and subsequently of our quadrennial. We are looking to see where we stand amongst other nations with the turnover of our program. We have had many touch points this year and are looking forward to seeing the team’s progress” said David Paradelo, Lead Coach of the Senior Women’s National Team.

The Canadian women will play their first game of the Intercontinental tournament, against Japan, at 6:20 p.m. (local) on Tuesday, May 2. Matches will be played daily, with the finals scheduled for Saturday, May 7th.
