Mascot Names – Finalists
Kai
- Rationale: “Kai means fire in Scottish, and by the looks of the mascot it has a lot of fire and determination in it.”
- Submitted by: Tyson, John Henderson Junior High
Niibin
- Rationale: “Niibin is an Anishinaabe word meaning ‘it is summer.’ The Anishinaabe people are the native people of Manitoba. I like the name Niibin because it sounds cool and it is because it is the Canada Summer Games and it would be cool to represent our history.”
- Submitted by: Taylor, St. Émile School
Nova
- Rationale: “By definition: a small star that suddenly becomes bright… like this mascot! As the Summer Games come closer, Nova gets more excited and shines brighter and brighter.”
- Submitted by: Luka, Shoal Lake School
