Volleyball Canada – Volleyball Canada is pleased to announce that Gatineau, Quebec, has been selected as the location of the Men’s National Training Centre until at least the end of 2020.

The team’s full-time training centre will continue to make use of the Centre Sportif, as well as have access to the Complexe Branchaud-Brière and the Centre Robert-Guertin for events.  The team will also make use of the Centre’s weight training room and other amenities.

“Gatineau has served as an ideal base for our men’s program for eight years,” said Volleyball Canada’s high performance director, Julien Boucher.  “We are looking forward to continuing this relationship, and strengthening our program in Gatineau over the next four years.”

The Centre Sportif has more than 18,000 square metres of recreational space. The gymnasium features a centre court and can accommodate up to three volleyball courts at once. The floor is made of Taraflex material and the ceiling clearance is 9.5 metres. The Men’s National Team office is located within the building, as well as its treatment centre. The gym accommodates up to 1000 spectators; 500 in permanent seats and 500 in movable stands.

This summer, Volleyball Canada will host the NORCECA Men’s U21 Championship in Gatineau from July 5 to 10. Ticket information is to be announced.

Canada’s senior men’s team is currently ranked 10th in the World Ranking, and is travelling to Japan this week for the World Olympic Qualification Tournament (roster to be announced May 20) and then returns to Canada to prepare for the 2016 edition of FIVB World League

Earlier this year, Volleyball Canada announced that Richmond, BC, will be the base of the women’s program beginning in January 2017. Both centres were chosen after an exhaustive selection process.
