Football Canada – Five teams to compete in three-day tournament
 
Guelph, ON (July 7, 2018) – Players and coaches have arrived this week at the University of Guelph’s Alumni Stadium for the start of the 2018 Under-16 Eastern Challenge this upcoming weekend.
Five teams will compete during the three days of competition. It all kicks off on Sunday July 8th at 5:00pm EST as New Brunswick faces Quebec in the first game of the tournament.  Then, host Ontario battles Saskatchewan at 8:00pm EST.

 

On the second day of competition on July 11th, the losers of those games mentioned above will play each other at 5:00pm EST.  Meanwhile, Nova Scotia will square off against the winner of the New Brunswick/Quebec game at  8:00pm EST.  

The medal round is set to go on the final day of competition which is Saturday July 14th. There will be four games that day starting at 9:00am EST.  In the afternoon, the gold medal game will be played at 1:30pm EST.
 
Last year was the inaugural year for the Under-16 Eastern Challenge.  In that tournament, host Nova Scotia won gold, Ontario claimed silver while Saskatchewan ended up with bronze.  New Brunswick finished fourth in 2017.
This will be Quebec’s first year competing at the tournament.
