Canada Basketball – Roy Rana (Ryerson) & David DeAveiro (McGill) Return As U18 & U17 Head Coaches

 
TORONTO, ON (May 17, 2016) – Canada Basketball’s Men High Performance will conduct open tryouts for the 2016 Age-Group teams Friday, June 3^rd at Humber College – North Campus.
 
The tryouts are open to Canadian male athletes born January 1, 1998 or later who have a valid Canadian passport. Players will be assessed by national team coaches. Athletes selected on June 3^rd will be asked to attend a final tryout on June 4^th before being invited to the official tryouts and training camp for the U17 and U18 teams.  
 
Athletes born January 1, 1998 or later are eligible to try-out for the U18 Men’s Team, that will participate in the U18 FIBA Americas in Valdivia, Chile from July 19 -23. The U18 Team will once again be coached by Roy Rana, along with assistants Jamie McNeilly, Kirby Schepp, and Steve Konchalski.
 
Athletes born January 1, 1999 or later are eligible to try-out for the U17 Men’s National Team that will participate in the FIBA U17 World Championship in Zaragoza, Spain from June 22 – July 3, 2016.  David DeAveiro returns for his 5^th consecutive season as head coach, along with assistants Michael Meeks, Nicky Davis and James Derouin.
 
Athletes interested in participating in the open tryout can access the registration and insurance forms here. Completed and signed forms should be brought to the tryout or filled out during registration.
 
Please Note: Parent/guardian signatures are required for all forms in order for athletes to participate. All athletes are responsible for their own gear, taping and expenses to attend, including a $10.00 tryout fee (cash only). There will be an athletic therapist onsite.  All athletes must bring a Canadian passport and a provincial birth certificate.
