Diving Plongeon Canada – KIEV, Ukraine – Bryden Hattie of Victoria was sixth on men’s three-metre and Tatiana Conn of Calgary eighth on women’s one-metre on Monday at the FINA World Junior Diving Championships.
 
On men’s three-metre in the 16-18 age group, Daniel Restrepo Garcia of Colombia of Calgary won the gold medal with 583.35 points. Luxian Wu of China followed for silver at 582.50 and his compatriot Junjie Lian was third at 570.40.
 
Hattie, 16, delivered a solid performance with 535.70. He scored more than 60 points in each of his five dives in the final averaging at least 7.0’s. His best dive was in the third round as he earned four 7.5’s, an 8.0 and two 7.0’s for his reverse three and half.
 
On women’s one-metre in the 14-15 age group, Shiyun Lai of China took the gold with 372.75, Hailey Hernandez of the U.S. was second at 347.75 and Elizaveta Kanso of Russia third at 343.45.
 
Conn earned a string of 7.0’s on her opening inward dive and scored slightly lower on her last two dives. She finished at 320.10.
 
Competition runs through to  Sunday.
