Triathlon BC  – VANCOUVER – Triathlon BC’s inaugural Youth and Junior Super Series concluded with the Vancouver Triathlon, September 6th.  The premier draft legal series, consisting of four marque events, each hosting super sprint distance triathlons and catering to aspiring performance pathway Youth (14 – 15) and Junior (16 – 19) athletes, kicked off in late May with the North Shore Triathlon, and culminating on Labour Day weekend with the Vancouver Triathlon. A consistent performer in each round of the Series, Kamloops’ Joshua Ogilvie, representing the Kamloops Triathlon Club, scored points in each of the four Championship events, including two wins in Vernon and Vancouver, amassing a hefty 68 points on his way to wrapping up the Series’ Junior Men’s Championship title.

Trail’s Jackson Konkin of the High Altitude Triathlon Club, clinched the runner-up spot in the Championship, with a win of his own at the third stop of the Series, the Kelowna Apple Triathlon, together with strong finishes at the Vernon and North Shore Series rounds.

Rounding off the Junior Men’s Series podium was Vernon’s Adam Bugera, representing the Tri Monsters, with consistently strong performances in the last three Series events.

In the Junior women’s points chase, 18 year old phenom, Hannah Mehain (Tri Monsters), a world-class cross-country skier representing Canada at the 2016 Junior Cross Country Championships in Romania, climbed the top step of the first year Championship Series, with two victories in the Vernon and Kelowna stops in the Series. An Alumni of the BC Summer Games in rowing, Hannah attributes her strong focus, intensity and the love of hard training to her athletic success.

An opening round win at the North Shore Triathlon put Kamloops’ Sophie Ogilvie (sister to Joshua!) firmly on the list of athletes to watch out for.  Consistently strong performances through the Series, including a book-ending victory in the last round of the Series helped clinch Sophie second place in the Championship points race.

Kelowna’s Janae Hoel, of Balance Point racing climbed to third place in the overall Champions Series, with consistent performances in the first three rounds of the provincial Series Championships.
Competing over the same Super Sprint distance, BC Games Alumni and Victoria resident, Danielle Leipoldt (LiveFit), dominated the Women’s Youth Series, with three wins in the first three Series Events, a performance good enough to secure an overall Championship win!

Vancouver’s Emma Neal, representing the Exceleration Triathlon Club, climbed the middle step of the podium, with consistent top performances and a category win in the Vancouver Triathlon.
Yet another BC Games Alumni, Colette Reimer, of the LiveFit Triathlon Club rounded out the women’s Series podium with strong performances at each of the first three rounds.

In the men’s Youth Championships, Balance Point Racing’s Brock Hoel (Brother to Janae!) out of Kelowna put a strangle hold on the Series, with three victories in the first three events, good enough to clinch the Championship title without visiting the last round of the Series.

Kamloop’s Trevor Laupland (Kamloops Triathlon Club) finished the season with a solid second place in the Youth Series, with strong finishes in every race of the Series.

Completing the Men’s Youth podium was Surrey’s Wyatt Schnare, bumping out yet another of the Hoel athletes (this time Lincoln Hoel) with a strong opening round finish and an outright Men’s Youth category win in the last event of the Series in Vancouver.

Each of the Series Champions will be awarded with exclusive Series Champion gear and products from Triathlon BC partners Rudy Project, Aqua Sphere and Skechers Performance Footwear.
