Canada Soccer – Canada Soccer continues to reach Canadians coast to coast to coast and hit new milestones across its digital platforms for the Toyota National Championships. This year, Canada Soccer’s website attracted more than half a million page views during the six-day coverage from 4-9 October. On Thursday 8 October, CanadaSoccer.com had its third-busiest day ever with more than 133,000 page views. 

The Toyota National Championships coverage drew more than 1.4 million impressions on Twitter, with results from 153 matches in Surrey, British Columbia, Fredericton, New Brunswick, and Calgary, Alberta shared. Daily stories garnered an additional 125,000 impressions on Facebook while photos and video on Instagram drew 380,000 impressions.

For the second year in a row, matches were broadcast on every day of the Toyota National Championships. This year, 54 matches were broadcast featuring each team across all three venues, including all championship finals over the Thanksgiving weekend.

Coverage continued in the week after Teck Finals, with more than 500 photos published from the three venues on Flickr.com/canadasoccer garnering more than 300,000 views in four days, topping out with a Canada Soccer record 100,000 views in a single day. 

Seven provinces win medals at Toyota National Championships
The Toyota National Championships wrapped up 13 months of competition in which more than 10,000 players from nearly 600 teams set their sights on a national title. From the 63 teams that reached the final week in October, six champions were crowned in three cities on Teck Finals Day over Thanksgiving weekend: the senior champions in Surrey, British Columbia; the U-17 Cup champions in Fredericton, New Brunswick; and the U-15 Cup champions in Calgary, Alberta.

Jubilee Trophy (women’s senior): Edmonton Victoria SC

U-17 Cup: Winnipeg Bonivital SC (boys) and CS Lakeshore (girls)

U-15 Cup: CS Longueuil (boys) and Surrey United SC (girls)

Looking ahead, competition is already underway for the 2018 Toyota National Championships, with next year’s finals to be played in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (Challenge Trophy and Jubilee Trophy), Surrey, British Columbia (U-17 Cup), and Laval, Québec (U-15 Cup).
