Canada Soccer – Toronto United Futsal won the 2016 Futsal Canadian Championship, winning the two-leg Grand Final 8-6 on aggregate over Sparte FC. The Toronto club won back-to-back weekend matches in Oshawa, Ontario, with both scores 4:3 at Durham College on 9 & 10 April.

Marco Rodriguez (two), Desmond Humphrey, and Harry Ahumada were the Toronto goal scorers on Saturday; Jonathan Osorio (two), Adrian Perez, and Humphrey were the Toronto goal scorers on Sunday.

This marks the second edition of the Futsal Canadian Championship, again broadcast via CanadaSoccer.com. Futsal Club Toronto were the 2015 Futsal Canadian Championship winners, but they lost to Toronto United Futsal in this year’s provincial championship en route to the national final.

Toronto United Futsal’s 2016 championship team featured Harry Ahumada, Cano Camilo, Maximiliano Gonzalez, Desmond Humphrey, Aldaire Jimenez, Edson Jimenez, Joshua Lemos, Sergio Marchant, Nicolas Martinez, Jonathan Osorio, Adrian Perez, Marco Rodriguez, and Michael Scavone.

Already well established at the international stage, Canada participated in the first edition of the FIFA Futsal World Cup back in 1989. This year, Canada will participate at the 2016 CONCACAF Futsal Championship in May with hopes of qualifying for the FIFA Futsal World Cup Colombia 2016.
