TORONTO 2017 NAIG – Canoe/kayak, archery, golf and wrestling make Toronto 2017 NAIG debut on Tuesday
 
Toronto, ON – July 18, 2017 – It was a busy day of competition at the Toronto 2017 North American Indigenous Games, with 11 out of 14 sport categories in action on Tuesday.
 
Highlighting Day 2 was the much-anticipated start of canoe/kayak events at the Welland International Flatwater Centre, including no less than 20 finals.
 
Other sports in action on Tuesday included badminton, baseball, basketball, lacrosse, rifle shooting, soccer and softball, as well as the Toronto 2017 NAIG debut of 3D archery, golf and wrestling.
 
On the cultural side, it was another exciting night at the York University and McMaster University Cultural Festivals. Tonight’s performance from York, featuring Indigenous artists Genevieve Fisher and Crystal Shawanda, was streamed live on CBCSports.ca.
 
Competition resumes on Wednesday, with athletics and volleyball joining the festivities. The Toronto 2017 NAIG continues until Saturday and wraps-up in the evening with the closing ceremony on the York campus.
