Canada Soccer – Three men’s U-15 identification soccer camps in February and March
Canada Soccer will hold three men’s youth identification camps in February and March 2016 to help foster the player development process for players born in 2001. The camps will be held in three locations across Canada: Burnaby, British Columbia; Vaughan, Ontario; and Montréal, Québec.
Camp rosters will be announced in advance of each youth project. The camps will be led by Canada Soccer coaches Paul Stalteri and Ante Jazic.
Canada Soccer’s Technical Director Tony Fonseca will work with all five Canadian professional clubs and the provincial/territory technical directors in the selection of the players. The technical directors from across Canada will also assign a provincial coach to attend one of the national camps to help further the coaching education between Canada Soccer and the member provinces and territories.
“We have been encouraged by the number of younger players in our Men’s National Team in recent years,” said Tony Fonseca, Canada Soccer’s Technical Director. “Our players are growing up with a solid foundation of skill. You can see from the interaction with our national program, the future is bright.”
In 2015, there were 20 camps and tournaments for Canada Soccer’s men’s national youth program, from the U-15 to U-23 levels. The 2015 schedule included the CONCACAF Men’s Under-17 Championship, the CONCACAF Men’s Under-20 Championship, and the CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament. The schedule also included youth identification camps at different age levels. In all, 3,623 player days were afforded to 311 Canadian youth players over the course of the year.
