Dec. 11, 2017

Vaughan, ON – The speaker roster for the Ontario Soccer Summit 2018, as presented by the Respect Group, is now set and the event is shaping up to be the must-attend personal and professional development opportunity for technical, officiating, administration and sport leaders in general.

The remaining nine session speakers for 2018 have been announced, some keynote quality in their own right, and they all bring something different to the table for attendees.

“The Ontario Soccer Summit roster is the most well-rounded group of speakers, with an extensive depth of knowledge, we have put together to date. There is something for everyone at this year’s event,” said Johnny Misley, Ontario Soccer Executive Director. “We look forward to delivering another first-in-class event for our membership and sport leaders from across the country.”

Richard Grootscholten, the Academy Director at Feyenoord Rotterdam, one of the top developing academies in Europe and a Dutch football coach with over 30 years’ experience in youth player development, is one example of a great presenter who will bring his unique approach to the weekend.

“Richard has worked closely with the Dutch FA to create nationwide youth development and management systems and has experience developing athletes all over the world,” said Gary Miller, Ontario Soccer Technical Director. “His expertise and depth of knowledge will bring a fresh look to the focus of the Ontario Soccer Summit.”

Also joining this year’s Ontario Soccer Summit will be a wealth of administration and operations speakers.

Christopher Doyle, Twitter’s Director of Partnership and Head of Sports, will bring a new perspective to the Ontario Soccer Summit as he presents on how to make social media work for your club.

Roisin Wood (Kick it Out on Discrimination), Ray Chapman (Rescue 7 on the First 10 Minutes), Dave Harris (Oakville SC on Walking Soccer) and Susan Lambert (Boomerang on Mental Health and Anxiety) as well as representatives from the Respect Group and the Peel Regional Police, partners with League1 Ontario, will also be in attendance to engage with delegates.

Anthony Capotosto of Toronto FC Academy has also been added to the match officials stream to speak to them about their development.

Ontario Soccer recently announced John Furlong, Andrea Shaw, and Dr. Stephen Norris as the three keynote speakers for the event.

Also announced previously were session speakers: Sebastian Dremmler (Bayern Munich Youth Teams Operations Manager), Jason deVos (Director of Development, Canada Soccer) and Dr. Nick Bontis (Vice President, Canada Soccer) as well as a number of other speakers.

Early bird tickets have sold out but there are still individual tickets and great group discounts available.
