The Rideau Tennis Club’s Junior Development Fund will continue to support the sport in the Capital
Recreation Association of the Public Service of Canada (RA) – May 2, 2018 (Ottawa, ON) – The RA is pleased to announce the donation of the Rideau Tennis Club’s Junior Development Fund to the National Capital Tennis Association to be managed and dispersed in a responsible manner consistent with the spirit and purpose of the fund.
The Junior Development Fund was created with monies raised at the RA’s Rideau Tennis Club, with the purpose to encourage, promote and financially support junior tennis at the Rideau Tennis Club and Canada’s Capital Region. A major source of fundraising was the annual Pro-Am Tournament, organised and hosted by the Club; held in connection with Ontario Tennis Association’s Roman Cup Junior Tournament. The RA sold the Rideau Tennis Club in August 2017.
“The Rideau Tennis Club has a rich history of member supported activities,” shares Tosha Rhodenizer, RA CEO. “This generous contribution to junior tennis development is a great legacy for this historic club.”
Ms. Rhodenizer recently met with Marinus Wins, Treasurer of the National Capital Tennis Association, to transfer the balance of the Jun ior Development Fund. Mr. Wins accepted a cheque for over $18,000, as well as some tennis equipment on behalf of the National Capital Tennis Association.
Thank you to all the members of the Rideau Tennis Club and the greater tennis community for their generous support of the Rideau Tennis Club’s Junior Development Fund. The RA is pleased to have entrusted this valuable legacy to an organization dedicated to growing and fostering tennis in the National Capital Region.
