Rowing Canada Aviron – ATTENTION RCA MEMBERS

Jack Nicholson coached athletes at all levels of rowing, from beginner to World Champion, and was highly regarded by rowers, coaches and officials alike. Jack’s dedication to the sport, his intuitive understanding of technique, and his ability to communicate with and inspire his crews helped them prepare for their future in sport and life in general. Jack was also well known in Canadian Rowing for his ongoing mentorship and support of Club level Coaches, encouraging them to take advantage of all learning opportunities and becoming the best they could be for the benefit of the athletes. Jack truly exemplified the “Spirit of Coaching”.

The Jack Nicholson Coaching Bursary has been created by Rowing Canada Aviron and Jack’s family to acknowledge his immense contributions.  This year $1,000 will be presented to the recipient(s) who best demonstrate(s) Jack’s commitment, intuition and passion for coaching. Candidates should be seeking funding support to pursue their own goals related to improving their coaching skills through coaching certification, conference participation and mentoring or apprentice opportunities.
