Archery Canada – OTTAWA – The 2018 Canadian Archery Championships begin August 3rd, 2018 in Truro, Nova Scotia. Canadian archers from coast to coast will come together to compete in one or more of the three Canadian Championships. More than 384 participants will be welcomed by the Host Committee from August 3rd to August 12th.

The Canadian Outdoor 3D Championship will be held from Friday August 3rd until Monday August 6th at Victoria Park in Truro, NS. Robert Piette (Men’s Compound Unlimited), Christian Frenette (Men’s Barebow), Wayne Christie (Men’s Longbow), Fred Streleoff (Men’s Instinctive), Ty Thurow (Cub Cadet Compound), Monica Higgins (Women’s Compound Unlimited), Cynthia Dubuc (Women’s Hunter), Julie Leblanc (Women’s Longbow), Jessica Beaumont (Women’s Junior Compound) and Joelle Thurow (Pre-Cub Compound) are among those coming back to defend their champion title.

A new category will make its entrance in the 3D Championship this year; the Known 50. “Archery Canada and myself are very excited for the first time to have a known distance class be part of the 3D National Championships. The Known 50 class we hope will bring new archers into the sport of 3D as it takes the guesswork out of judging distances and will force the competitors to make a precise shot each target. I suspect that the scores in this class will be very high and one lapse in concentration could prove the difference when it comes down to the gold medal” explains Aaron Bull, Archery Canada’s VP 3D programs.

The Canadian Field Championship will be held from Monday August 6th until Wednesday August 8th also at Victoria Park in Truro, NS. Returning medalists include Austin Taylor (Compound Cadet Men), J’Lynn Mitchell (Compound Cadet Female), Austin Ellis (Compound Junior Men), Rudy Jampen (Compound Master Men), Madison Hart (Compound Senior Women), and Cathy Relf (Master Women’s Recurve).

The Canadian Target Championship will be held from Wednesday August 8th until Sunday August 12th at a local driving range (323 Marshland Drive), in Truro, NS. Returning defending champions for this event include Kateri Vrakking (Senior Women’s Recurve), Marie-Ève Gélinas (Cadet Women’s Recurve), Jacob Gagnon (Men’s Cub Recurve), Luc Martin (Men’S Senior Compound), Madison Hart (Women’s Senior Compound), Rudy Jampen (Men’s Master’s Compound) and Alexandra Paquette (Women’s Cadet Compound).

Good luck to everyone!
