Wrestling Nova Scotia – HALIFAX, NS (April 19th, 2018) – From April 13th to 15th, six of Nova Scotia’s top wrestlers competed for national titles at the Butterdome in Edmonton, Alberta.

Makayla Levy of Wolfville, NS captured her second national title in the U19 freestyle division at 57kg. Levy also received her second national outstanding wrestler award. Levy outscored her competition 37-0 on her first day of wrestling to win the title. The following day Levy competed for a place on Team Canada and outscored her competition 37-5. Levy will represent Canada this May at the United World Wrestling Pan American Games in Guatemala. Levy is the first female wrestler from Nova Scotia to qualify for the Pan American Games in 13 years. Levy was also a silver medalist at the 2017 Canada Games and wrestles out of the Metro Amateur Wrestling Club located in Sackville, NS.

Fifteen year old Eamonn Dudley-Chubbs of Dingwall, NS earned a bronze medal in the U17 freestyle division at 65kg. Dudley-Chubbs went 4-1 in a division with 22 wrestlers. Dudley-Chubbs  trains at the Cape Breton Highlands Wrestling Club and will compete again next month at the Journeymen Classic in Lake Placid, New York.

Liam Saccary won gold at 60kg in U19 Greco Roman. This is Saccary’s second national Greco gold and he competed last year at the Pan American Games in Argentina. Saccary trains at the Metro Amateur Wrestling Club and represented Nova Scotia at the 2017 Canada Games.
